The Carrie Diaries Fashion

Confession: I'm obsessed with The Carrie Diaries.
I'm justifying it through these two reasons:
1. I loved Sex & the City.
2. The fashion in the show is amazing!

Lots of polka dots, bright colors, and fun sweaters -
probably not at all how they dressed in 1985, but whatever.

In last week's episode, Carrie wore a great pink & emerald combo & now I can't wait to pair these two colors together!

Actual: anthropologie * dillard's
For Less: j.crew * j.crew

In the show, she paired it with a pair of skinny black pants - minnie pants?
This is a perfect look for spring
& I'm now dying to get an emerald cardigan (2013's color of the year)!

What do you think of the emerald and pink combo and The Carrie Diaries?

Get Printed for Less

Prints are everywhere this spring - on pants, shoes, accessories, etc.
So, why not infuse some printed fabric into your home decor?

I found three of my favorite printed items of the season,
and matched them with similar fabrics for under $15.00 a yard!

There is the slight difference between flowers & lobsters...
but same trendy color scheme!
wedges * fabric
Could this one be any more perfect?
scarf * fabric
Although the fabric's colors are a little muted compared to the scarf,
it just makes it more usable when decorating!

You don't have to be a pro seamstress to add some bold prints
to your home or apartment, either!
Make a simple pillow or frame some fabric for a huge impact.
Also, simple additions like these are not permanent -
so if you get tired of the bold print, get rid of it!

How do you like prints (whether on clothing or in the home) this season?

Creativity

I have decided to do a weekly "words of wisdom" post (most likely on every Friday).
This week, I felt it was fitting to have a quote about creativity because of the new start of Creativity & Cardigans!

I just love this quote from Joseph Chilton Pearce.
Most of the time my projects don't turn out like I want them to - and they are never perfect!
It's actually a really good lesson to learn when trying to be crafty.
My mom and I always say:
"If we wanted it to be perfect, we would have bought it from a store."
The quirks and imperfections are what makes crafting fun!

What's your favorite quote about creativity?

Time to Redecorate

As I get closer and closer to gradation,
I think more and more about where I'll be next year.
I really only have two choices: in an apartment somewhere (who knows where)
or living at home for a while.

However, each of these situations requires some cleaning out
and (my favorite) redecorating!
At the end of the school year, the majority of the items in my dorm room will be sold, and I will put the money towards my "grown-up" room or apartment.

I recently came up with a inspiration board for my bedroom and I'm in love!

My main theme for the room is "shabby chic, yet preppy"
and think these fabrics and colors portray just that!
All of the fabrics are from Hawthorne Threads, my favorite fabric website.
I have already bought 3 yards of the floral print and it's even better (& brighter) in person.
The "Pearls Always Match the Monogram" print

I have so much planned for my bedroom thanks to this theme and I can't wait to share.
Also, all projects are going to be super thrifty and cheap as I am on a college student/recent graduate budget! :)

Are you a fan of the "shabby chic, yet preppy" look?

A New Start

Notice anything different?

Creativity & Cardigans is officially starting over.
Same web address, but different web page.
New look, new inspiration
& a new spot on my priority list.

Starting C&C almost 2 years ago was a brand new adventure for me,
I had no idea what I was doing, and
I didn't run things the way I would have liked them to be run.
I wasn't committed to my blog or my blog friends or business relationships.

After an almost 3 month hiatus from the blogging world,
I have thought long and hard about whether or not I wanted to continue C&C.
I have my answer and that answer is yes.
But this time, I will be doing things right.

I'm excited. I'm inspired. I'm ready to start sharing.

Start by following C&C through BlogLovin,
check out my "about me" and "contact me" buttons
and enjoy. :)
